There's no better way to start a productive day, or to boost your afternoons, than with a creamy Get Shit Done-Coffee! You do this by adding 1-2 spoons of MCT-powder to your favorite coffee blend, or any drink of choice.

MCT stands for Medium Chain Triglycerides which means medium length fatty acids and is a a form of healthy fat mainly derived from coconut and is one of the best, most bioavailable forms of energy. Because MCT's are shorter in length compared to other fats they are instantly processed by the liver and turned into ketones, little bundles of energy that are a powerful and long lasting source of energy for your body and brain.

Since MCT is a form of fat it doesn't raise your blood sugar, but instead will keep your blood sugar stable. This way you avoid the crash in energy which often comes after consuming carbohydrate rich foods.

The main benefits of MCT's are:

  • Instant and long lasting energy
  • Imrpoved endurance and athletic performance
  • Improved mental clarity and focus
  • Improved cognitive and neurological function
  • Increased feeling of fullness
  • Supports weightloss
  • Supports gut health
  • Anti-inflammatory

Adding MCT to your coffee, or any drink of choice, is a great way to get shit done. By adding it to your morning routine, you can maximize the results of your mornings and set the tone for the rest of your day!

If you're not that experienced with MCT products it can be hard to know what to look for when you're choosing what MCT-powder to buy. On the labels and product descriptions of most MCT-powders everything seems fine and dandy but you should always take a close look at the list of ingredients before you make your choice because there are many questionable things going on there.

Here's what to look for when choosing the best MCT-powder:

  • 100% derived from coconut

MCT's can mainly be found in coconut oil or palm oil but due to the controversy of using palm the most respected brands use MCT's from coconut. Some of the health benefits of MCT-oil are similar to the benefits of coconut oil but because coconut oil only contain a partial amount of MCTs, using MCT in its concentrated form such as MCT-oil or MCT-powder is much more effective.

  • No fillers or additives

MCT-powder is actually MCT-oil in powder form, which can be easier on your digestive system compared to the oil. It's also more convenient to mix in coffee and shakes and to carry with you in your bag and when travelling.

To get the MCT-oil into a powder you need a carrier to encapsulate the oil and that's where many brands prioritize a cheap price over high quality. Many brands also use fillers to lower the price of the ingredients. You want to avoid ingredients such as casein/milk protein, glucose syrup, corn starch, soluble corn fiber, maltodextrin, silica, and sunflower lechitin which are the most common fillers in many MCT-powders.

The most preferred carrier to use is Acacia fiber because it's in itself a prebiotic superfood promoting a healthy gut. No other ingredients are needed to make the perfect MCT powder. But it's also the most expensive alternative, but investing in your health is always a profitable business!

  • High concentration of MCT-oil and 100% C8

You want your MCT-powder to have as high concentration of MCT-oil as possible to get the most powerful effects. Optimal ratio would be 70% MCT oil and 30% carrier (acacia fiber).

What you also need to have in mind is the ratio between the different MCT's in the MCT-oil. There are four types of MCT's and the difference is the length of the fat chains which affects how quick it can be processed by the body. MCT's can have either 6, 8, 10 or 12 carbons and the shorter the fat chain the quicker its processed and therefore a more effective energy source.

C8 (MCT with 8 carbons) is the holy grail of MCT's because of its optimal length which the body quickly can absorb and instantly convert to energy while at the same time not put too much stress on your digestive system.

Most commercial brands of MCT-powder use a 50/50 or a 70/50 combination of C8 and C10 MCT's. 100% C8 (caprylic acid) is most preferred as it converts to ketones/energy far more efficiently than C10 does and therefore gives the best effect, but then again this is a question of price vs. quality.

  • Blends easily with no clumps

The most annoying thing is when the MCT-powder doesn't dissolve properly in your coffee and it leaves a layer of clumps on the top instead of making your coffee creamy and smooth. This is the case with most MCT-powders on the market and to get it to dissolve you need to use a hand mixer. This also makes it very complicated to bring your powder on-the-go if you want to boost your afternoon coffee at work for example, unless you want to bring that mixer as well.

The Friendly Fat Company sought out to produce the most powerful and high quality MCT-powder on the market. We only use 100% MCT-oil derived from coconut combined with pure Acacia fiber which promotes a healthy gut bacteria and the ratio between MCT-oil and fiber is 70/30. We don't use any fillers or additives what so ever and our MCT-oil is 99% C8 making it as clean and powerful as it can possibly get.

Our MCT-powder also blends super easily in fluids without clumps making any drink creamy and smooth without the need of a mixer. Easy to bring on-the-go to boost your day whenever you need!
